Have you ever heard about microneedling? The technique consists in using small needles to reach the dermis and stimulate cell renewal. “A roll with multiple sterile needles in a row is used. They are small, but reach the dermis at a depth of 1 to 3 mm, causing a ‘trauma’, explains dermatologist Priscila Rebellato, of the Annia Cordeiro Skin Clinic, dermatology center in Curitiba (PR).
These tiny holes in the dermis cause the body to respond by regenerating the wounded area and promoting cellular recovery. Therefore, the treatment is to correct acne scars, achieving great results. “Microneedling is also indicated for the so-called drug delivery – to maximize the absorption of topical medicines,” comments the expert.
The procedure is normally done with topical anesthetic in the office itself and it features a speedy recovery.
